Soundtrack Magazine proudly presents a limited edition, world-premiere Smoked Brown vinyl release of composer DING Ke’s (WHERE THE WIND BLOWS, ONE AND FOUR) original motion picture soundtrack to the 2024 Hong Kong drama PAPA, directed by Philip Yung (PORT OF CALL, WHERE THE WIND BLOWS). The film received multiple nominations at the 43rd Hong Kong Film Awards, including "Best Original Film Score."
Inspired by a true event in Hong Kong, the film unfolds from a father's perspective, delicately portraying the grief, struggle, and redemption of an ordinary family amidst a profound crisis; through a style of realism that is both restrained and powerful, it reveals the depth and complexity of human emotion.

For this score, Ding returns to a purer, more deeply emotive musical expression. He makes extensive use of the warm timbres of the piano and other mid-register instruments to craft a fluid soundscape evocative of a bygone era. Steeped in the weight of time, the music flows gently through the film’s heavy narrative, offering a tender, embracing presence that soothes the story's moments of fractured familial bonds and adds a poignant emotional resonance to this realistic drama.

The album is personally produced by Ding Ke himself with a brand new master. The packaging was created by the Taiwanese designer Yooowen.
