Soundtrack Magazine is proud to present the world premiere vinyl release of composer LUAN Hui’s original motion picture score composed for the 2024 animated film I AM WHAT I AM 2. Directed by SUN Haipeng and produced by ZHANG Miao, the film continues the story of Ah Juan, depicting her experiences as a migrant worker in the South. However, this time, the setting shifts from Guangzhou to Shanghai, tracing her transformative journey from lion dancing to becoming a competitive boxer to support his father’s medical treatment, with traditional martial arts as her guiding force.

Composer Luan Hui returns, expanding upon the musical themes he previously crafted for Ah Juan and the lion dance sequences while also introducing diverse contemporary elements, including trap and rap, reflecting Shanghai’s modern, international atmosphere and the drama of contemporary combat sports. Carefully curated, this album presents Luan’s composition structure through a comprehensive narrative and thematic approach. In addition to the original score, this release includes all rap songs featured in the film and a newly arranged version of “Nobody,” performed by Taiwanese singer Angela Zhang. The album is mixed and mastered by French audio engineer XIE Yun.

This is an initial limited edition of 400 units, available in two variants: “Kapok Flower” and “White Magnolia.” Each record comes individually numbered for collections.
